She's Gone Country....

Well, I finally gave in. I grew up in Idaho, lived in Nashville, TN, and this is my second stint in Texas, I have resisted country music, and all it stands for. Sure, I have been to rodeos and I have seen concerts...saw Tim McGraw before he met Faith Hill and he wasn't such a household name at the Blackfoot Fair. But, Nick got some sweet tickets to the Houston Rodeo and Brooks and Dunn concert. The rodeo has been a big deal, and people from all over have come and made traffic horrible. One of the subcontractors that Nick works with has a suite at the Reliant Center. VIP room, free food and drinks, nice seats, express elevator to the 8th floor, and everyone else having to go in "regular" seats looking at you so jealous that you have AWESOME VIP passes. The rodeo was pretty fun. I cheered loud for the Idahoan, he made it to the top four in the calf roping, but then missed the calf for first place...I think he came in 3rd. Watched the mutton bustin'...which was HILARIOUS! That is where they stick little kids on sheep and let them go...so cute. Little kids, like 3-4 years old, hanging onto the wool for all they're worth. The little girl that won had totally slipped onto the side of the sheep and was riding on it's side. It was fun.
Despite the free food, we wanted fair food, so we went back down to the carnival and ate. Went back up to the suite and watched the concert. I did know a lot of the songs, including "Boot Scoot Boogie", which I totally know the dance, and we went up into the little room and danced to it. It was awesome. I was reluctant to go, because I have a fear of crowds, and people in my space. There were a lot of people, for sure. Traffic was horrible, and it is still spring break so there were lots of kids. Kamille (such a wonderful person) watched Lexi, so we didn't need to worry about trying to navigate a stroller. Not everyone was as fortunate as we to have a babysitter, so there were lots of strollers. It was nice to have a date night. We don't do that often. We had fun. We even rode the ferris wheel and made out like teenagers! It was a good night. I have to say THANKS to Kamille. She not only watches Lexi all week for me, but took Lexi with her so Nick and I could go. THANKS KAMILLE, YOU'RE THE BEST!!!
And, to top it off..
I wore cowboy boots.

I can't believe it!!

Lexi is one! This year has gone by way too fast! It is so crazy. It sounds so cliche, but it seems like yesterday...
Seriously, it doesn't seem like it could have possibly been an entire year. She has grown, though. She isn't walking yet, but she crawls all over the place. She's fast too. She got a handful of dog food in her mouth before I could stop her...
She is such a good baby. I am really lucky. She is happy and easygoing. I know that I haven't posted forever, but it has been crazy lately. Should you want to see any pics...refer to egangarden.blogspot.com
In the meantime, I'll go ahead and say, I'll post some pics soon!

Another New Year...how fast they go....

I can't believe that 2009 just came in, just like that. No warning, nothing. So, Nick and I celebrated at home. We grilled some steaks, and watched a bunch of people freezing their unmentionables off in the cold in NY. Nick almost made it to the ball dropping...but alas. It is getting to the point that we would be disappointed if Nick could stay away past 11. Oh Well.

We had a wonderful time in Idaho. My first white Christmas in YEARS! Crazy. I know that you Idahoans will be sick of it in another month, but it is just not normal having to put the A/C on in Jan. Yes, I am cleaning, and it is way to hot, so just trying to take it down a few degrees. Lower than 78. Unbelieveable. Matt got our laptop to work, so now maybe I'll be better about posting/pics etc. That could be a resolution of mine. But for now, I have a lot to do today. The Chargers are playing Indy tonight in a playoff game, and it is very important for the Chargers to win. So important that we had to invite a few people over. That's nice for Nick, but I am here at the house trying to make it somewhat presentable for company. I should be finishing up vacuuming while baby is asleep, but I thought I'd drop a line to wish everyone a Happy New Year.
